Ambassadors at Washington Middle School, Kenosha, WI
Bucky’s Classroom brings UW–Madison student ambassadors directly into classrooms across Wisconsin, reaching thousands of seventh graders per year. The ambassadors lead interactive sessions that help younger students build a better understanding of college both academically and socially, gain knowledge about terms related to college, resources to help pay for college, explore possible career options and discover the importance of establishing a strong foundation for their future, rooted in education.
100% of teachers surveyed over the past two years say that their students are more likely to attend college after participation in Bucky’s Classroom.
Meet the Staff
Fran Puleo Moyer is the Director of UW Connects, a statewide outreach program housed in the UW–Madison Office of State Relations. UW Connects includes Badger Talks, Bucky’s Classroom, and the Badger Ambassador program. She has 25+ years of experience in program development, event management, community and public relations, marketing, and communications through positions held with public organizations and universities around the midwest. She has enjoyed seeing Bucky’s Classroom grow from a small team of engaged students working with a handful of youth, to the large ambassador team now reaching thousands of 7th graders each year. Fran holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of Illinois and an MBA in marketing from DePaul University but is a proud Badger at heart. She is honored to support programming which exemplifies the Wisconsin Idea!
Kara Morris is the Program Coordinator at UW Connects, where she supports statewide outreach through Badger Talks and Bucky’s Classroom. She previously served as the Education Coordinator at the Chazen Museum of Art, where she developed educational programming and coordinated museum visits. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is an artist herself. Kara is passionate about finding ways to make learning feel welcoming, accessible, and meaningful.
Audrey Walker is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Elementary Education, along with certificates in Dance and Dance Education. Starting out with Bucky’s Classroom this year, Audrey is excited to work with middle school students around Wisconsin, educating them about the amazing aspects of college, and sharing valuable advice and stories of her own time here at UW–Madison. Outside of school, Audrey loves to exercise, watch reality TV, and spend time with friends. Ryan Bassett is an undergraduate student studying Elementary Education at UW–Madison. One of his favorite parts about Bucky’s Classroom is getting to practice his teaching skills in a real classroom setting, getting to share about his college experience with students, and making sure all students know that they can make it to college. Ryan is excited to help ambassadors make meaningful connections with 7th grade students across Wisconsin. Outside of school and work, Ryan loves playing golf, basketball, soccer, and watching movies!
